Investing in Yourself: The First Step to Owning Your Impact
As one month ends and another begins, many of us feel the tug to reevaluate where we are and where we're going. For me, April was full of highs and lows—co-hosting a paid workshop, undergoing surgery, navigating grief, promoting a new book, and pausing to reflect on what I’m truly connected to.
“Owning your impact starts with investing in yourself.
Not just financially—but emotionally, spiritually, and mentally.”
What Does It Mean to "Invest in Yourself"?
Investing in yourself means giving yourself what you need to grow. It means saying yes to opportunities that align with your purpose and no to distractions that drain you. Sometimes, investing in yourself looks like:
Setting firm boundaries around your time and energy
Resting when your body and mind need space to heal
Working with a coach or mentor to gain clarity
Saying yes to a new challenge even when you're scared
Choosing peace over people-pleasing
This kind of investment doesn’t always show up in your bank account—it shows up in your mindset, your boundaries, your presence, and your peace.
The Truth: You’re Going to Pay Either Way
So often, I see authors and entrepreneurs hesitate to invest in themselves. Whether it’s joining a training, hiring support, or even buying a book that could shift their mindset—there’s resistance. I get it.
But here’s the truth:
“You’re going to pay either way.
You’ll either invest money to grow intentionally—or you’ll spend time trying to figure it all out alone.”
And time, unlike money, is one resource you don’t get back.
You can’t afford to stay stuck in hesitation when your purpose is calling.
The Power of the Pause
In April, I chose to pause.
I pulled back to reassess what I’ve been connected to, what’s fueling me, and what I need to let go of. That pause gave me perspective. And from that place, I began making shifts that are already positioning me for deeper impact.
Sometimes, the best investment is giving yourself permission to breathe.
Your Turn: What Needs to Shift?
As we move into May, I want to ask you:
What needs to shift for you to fully own your impact?
Is it your schedule?
Your inner dialogue?
Your support system?
Your willingness to put yourself first?
Whatever it is, don’t ignore it. Your impact matters too much to leave on autopilot.
